Converting a normal image into a favicon

Converting a normal image into a favicon

You can use an existing picture as a favicon. Resize the image you want to use 16 pixels by 16 pixels,. Save as BMP or GIF.

After saving it, run image through the converter at www.html-kit.com, or (haven’t tried this) somacon.com to create a favicon

Name the file “favicon.ico” if it isn’t already using all lowercase.

Upload to root and add tags head:

link href=”favicon.ico” rel=”shortcut icon” /
link href=”animated_favicon1.gif” rel=”icon” type=”image/gif” /

or full

link href=”https://mydomain.com/favicon_name.ico” rel=”icon” type=”image/x-icon” /
link href=”https://mydomain.com/favicon_name.ico” rel=”shortcut icon” type=”image/x-icon” /

less than greater than symbols removed for post
